Furnish your home with radiators: three questions to start with.

Colours, shapes, styles and functions: when furnishing your home there are so many different things to take into account. This was not a problem until the last century, since there were only a few models of radiators to choose from, which were all very similar, usually white, and were generally concealed as much as possible under a window.

But nowadays radiators have been replaced by designer radiators, which play a major role in defining the style of a space.

So where should you start from to choose the best designer radiator for your room?

Here are three questions you should ask yourself before making such a decision, which will help you find the best solution for you.

ONE. What function will the designer radiator serve?

Radiators are used for heating – that’s pretty obvious.

However, due to space requirements – or even style requirements – they are increasingly becoming a multi-purpose item.

This means that a radiator such as E-Mirror becomes a mirror that embellishes the living room or the front hallway, where you can check yourself before you dash out the door.

In bathrooms, designer radiators are often used as towel warmers: in such cases, it is best to choose a model with horizontal elements, such as our Urbino or Grado models, or you could go for a more minimalist style that can be complemented with one of our accessories.

TWO. Vertical or horizontal radiator?

When choosing a radiator, be it horizontal or vertical, the first thing to consider is how much space is available: given that the heating surface is the same, a vertical radiator will usually allow you to maximise wall space, but some rooms are laid out in such a way that a horizontal designer radiator can be installed more easily.

Its purpose is also a key factor: when placed over a bathtub, a very wide towel warmer, even a minimalist one such as Onetube, makes the bathroom look and feel warmer, and you still have plenty of space for large bath towels that you can wrap yourself in to relax for a while longer.

One last trick: radiators, especially tubular ones, can completely change the look of a room in the same way as wearing stripes can alter the way our natural body shape looks. In fact, horizontal radiators tend to widen the room, while vertical ones make it look taller.

THREE. Minimalistic or star attraction?

It is a stylistic choice: much depends on the overall look you want to create for your room and whether or not there are any eye-catching elements.

In spaces with a clean, minimalist design, a designer radiator can blend in with the simple and elegant lines of the existing furnishings.

Simple models, with smooth surfaces and a distinctive shape, whether with soft lines as in Tavolara or more geometric lines as in Ischia, complement and harmonise with the colours of a room, and are therefore easy on the eyes.

For a more striking look, instead, a designer radiator can be the star attraction, just like an artwork that does not fit in with the style of the room, and therefore stands out and gives it a unique character, as is the case with Shanghai or Patchwork, with its endless combinations of colours and materials.

The colour you choose also helps to create a different effect: for example, a colour that matches the walls or the same colour as other finishes or elements, such as door and window frames, picture frames or other accessories. Alternatively, it can become a single focal point that contrasts with every other element in the room.

Ultimately, bear in mind that there are no set rules: you should always let your style and personality guide you!
